Dear Gardi users,



When i connect my onkyo dvd player 404e with hdmi on my receiver

there is only sound on the dvd root menu.

when i play the disc there is no sound

the display shows: PCM multichannel.



please help me

The 803 makes via HDMI only a "drive through" and don?t touch the Signal. It can be, that sometimes 2.0 Stereo additionaly funktion, but as i know no multichannel signal.



Sorry. The new 804 has "Audio Prozessing" included.



You must connect the 404 to the 803 with an additional Coax cable.

page 36 and page 37 in de PDF



so..



but when i connect it, some time DD blinks and pcm blinks

when i insert an normal cd there is sound...



the receiver is clicking his way around and some lights of dd and pcm are blinking, when a DVD is in.



does anybody maybe have an solution maybe an firmware update for the 404e !!

little update



when i set de dvd player to LPCM(2CH) every thing is alright

(but no real DD and DTS over the HDMI cable)

The 803 has official only HDMI drive through. But, as i wrote, it can be that PCM 2.0 Stereo funktion correctly. And it can also be that sometimes some short multichannel pieces came through. I had the same problem with the 5000 and other HDMI players. Here its the HDMI version 1.0 of the 5000.



I dont think, that a firmware update of the player will help.

so onkyo needs to fix this for me i guess.



you cannot sell something that doesnt work.



HDMI 1.1 does support DTS and DD sound

just what was written down in the user manual.

page 36 and 37.



i wont do with less. they will fix or replace the device.
