Onkyo TX-SR674 # Video Signal

Hallo Onkyo Fan-Gemeinde,

diese Nachricht erreichte mich per E-Mail, wer von euch kann Anssi bei seinem Problem helfen?

Werde ihm zu diesem Thread den Link senden...

I hope you understand english.. :) Mr Patrick T... from Fotopoint gave me a link to this page because I'm having a bit of a problem with my Onkyo AV-Receiver.

The model is TX-SR 674 E, and it supports hdmi input/output. I've connected my computer(to hdmi input) and dvd-player(to component input) in my Onkyo, and tv (LG LP1) in to Onkyo hdmi output.

The problem is that I don't get any video signlal in my tv from Onkyo, even the on-screen-menus don't show up (the best result I've had is a menu and noise going on and off, menu showing up in the right side of the screen). Usually the tv just says 'No signal'. I've also tried another hdcp %26 hdmi compatible lcd (computer)screen but I don't get any signal there either. What I've managed to do is to get my computer recognize Onkyo when it's connected via hdmi but still can't get the video go through the AV receiver. I've also been able to video out from Onkyo s-video or composite (don't remember which) but the image quality was poor.

I hope you have some ideas what I could try to get this setup working.. best regards, Anssi M...

Moin Dirk, hello Annsi M....

Dear Annsi !

I don't know the newer Onkyo HDMI Receivers. But i think, that your problem is, that you have to make the setup of your Onkyo in that way, that all video-sources are output to hdmi. Maybe you could read your owners Manual again or there is another person in the forum, that may give explanations to you!

Maybe you could, after registration, write here yourself !

Regards
Stefan

I've been reading the manual but haven't found any 'switches' that should be turned to get the hdmi output working. It would be a start to get the on-screen-menu working but all I get is 'no signal' on the tv screen. Today I wasn't even able to get the menu flickering on/off like I did earlier :(

edit: I connected my dvd player to the receiver with a component cable, and connected the receiver to my tv with a component cable - works fine. Hdmi output still doesn't work.

edit2: I understand some german, and I can also use babelfish so replies in german are also welcome :)

Zitat geschrieben von Onkyo Manual 674 Page 32
Video Signal Flow Chart

(TX-SR604/604E, TX-SR8460)

Digital video signals received at HDMI IN

1 and 2 are only output by the HDMI OUT

and sent to your TV. Composite video,

S-Video, and component video input signals

are not output by the HDMI OUT.

Note:

The onscreen setup menus are not output by the HDMI OUT, so you'll also need to make a composite video, S-Video,

or component video connection to your TV
(see page 24).

(TX-SR674/674E, TX-SR8467)

Digital video signals received at HDMI IN 1 and 2 are only output by the HDMI OUT.

By configuring the AV receiver, input signals from the composite video, S-Video, and component video jacks can be

output through the HDMI OUT (see page 45).

Audio Signal Flow Chart

Digital audio signals received at HDMI

IN 1 or 2 are output by the speakers and

headphones connected to the AV receiver.

They?re also output by the OPTICAL

OUT and can be output by the HDMI

OUT by setting the HDMI Audio Out setting

to On (see page 76).

* To listen to audio received at HDMI IN 1 and 2 through your TV speakers, set the HDMI Audio Out setting to On

(see page 76) and your DVD player?s output setting to PCM.

Is seems, that you also have to make analog video Connections....

Yours Stefan

I've read from other forums that they get the menus on the screen ok by using hdmi between the receiver and the tv. I think that only the models mentioned first can't do that. TX-SR674 can do up-conversion and should also be able to output the menus via hdmi out.

Hello AnnsiM !

Maybe only the xx5-Models can output the setup menu via HDMI....

But I'm not shure because me I don't know the newer Onkyo surround receivers......

Maybe some other users can answer here......

Come on, where are you ????   😉

Greetings

The people I'm referring were specifically using 674, and were getting the Onkyo menus on screen from Onkyos hdmi out. They've also mentioned that connecting a device in to Onkyos component in and connecting Onkyo to tv with a hdmi works fine.
